This course is intended for all persons who need to institute disciplinary action. This unit standard is intended for people who are, or seek to be a human resources management or employment relations practitioner or a general manager. Persons credited with this unit standard are able to identify and categorise transgression, implement appropriate procedures and represent an employee at a disciplinary hearing.

It is assumed that people learning towards this Unit Standard are already competent in:
Learners applying to enter this learning programme need to submit proof of entry requirements being met, e.g. school certificates / reports. Learners who cannot provide proof of entry level requirements being met will need to undergo an interview/counselling session with the training provider to identify and guide the learners toward RPL, bridging courses, ABET, etc. in order to help them realise their opportunities / choices / alternative pathways in order to meet the entry level requirements of this programme. The interview / counselling session will be documented and a copy provided to the learner for future reference.
